Hexapuzzlenew is a minimalist hex-block puzzler where the board feels roomy at the start and claustrophobic ten moves later. Pieces arrive as chunky honeycomb shapes, and your job is to pack them into a hex grid so you keep creating clears instead of building a permanent mess. The best placement is often the one that preserves future options, even if it doesn’t score immediately. Controls Desktop: Drag and drop pieces with the mouse. Mobile: Tap and drag pieces with your finger. How the board behaves A hex grid clears along multiple directions, which is powerful, but it also makes it easy to create sealed pockets that no shape can fit. Strong runs come from: • placing awkward shapes early while the center is open • preserving at least one flexible pocket for thin pieces Open with the ugly pieces Early moves decide your whole run. If you place tiny pieces first, the center becomes bumpy and large shapes stop fitting. Instead: • place the largest pieces early • prefer placements that touch edges and create flat boundaries • save small fillers for later when you need to patch gaps Build for two clears, not one Completing one line direction over and over slowly chokes the board. A better plan: • set up two nearly-complete lines in different directions • clear one line to open space • immediately complete the second line while the board is still open The one-pocket rule Always protect one pocket that can accept multiple shapes. Good pockets are medium open zones near the center or a shallow bay along an edge that fits skinny pieces. Bad pockets are tiny sealed holes that only one exact shape can fix. Edge work that saves runs Edges give you clean boundaries. Use them to build stability: • create flat shelves along one side • avoid jagged stair-steps that create unusable dents • don’t stack high into a corner unless you’re clearing immediately When a placement looks perfect but is wrong A common trap is completing a line that leaves a dead pocket in the middle. If the clear creates a hole you can’t fill, it’s not a win, it’s debt. Before placing, ask: • will this create a sealed gap? • if the next pieces are awkward, do I still have a landing zone? Recovery move when you’re stuck When the board is crowded, stop hunting for a perfect clear and stabilize: • place a piece to flatten a boundary • rebuild one large open zone Then return to setting up clears. Stabilizing first prevents panic placements that end the run. Mini challenge Play three rounds where you refuse to place any small piece until you’ve placed at least one large, awkward shape. The board stays open longer and you see clearer options. FAQ Why do I lose even when I clear early? You’re creating sealed pockets that future pieces can’t enter. What should I place first? Large or awkward shapes while the center is still open. What’s the biggest habit to learn? Always keep one flexible pocket available.
